Now that you’ve finished our suggested reading list, we know that you’re dying to discuss everything we’ve suggested. So you’ll be happy to know that POGO will be co-sponsoring a conversation with several of the authors of America’s Defense Meltdown on February 19th at 5:30 pm at the Stewart R. Mott House, 122 Maryland Ave., NE, Washington, D.C. (Capitol Hill area) to discuss the decades-long and continuing challenges to creating an effective and accountable national defense.
POGO Executive Director Danielle Brian will moderate the discussion with:
- Winslow T. Wheeler who spent 30 years working for Republican and Democratic senators and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on defense budget issues.
- Thomas Christie, who has five decades of experience in defense acquisition positions, involving weapons testing and program evaluation. Christie retired in 2005 as the Pentagon’s most senior career civilian official.
- Pierre M. Sprey, who worked with a small number of brilliant colleagues to design and procure some of the most successful weapons in Pentagon history.
