			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">I belong to one of the first generations where environmental consciousness was taught&#8211;I knew never to use an aerosol can, and learned about the greenhouse effect in my catechism classes (and I&#8217;m a Roman Catholic from the Midwest, not some Berkley hippie like <a href="http://blog.pogowatercooler.org/about/" target="_blank">Smallberg</a>).  Our three R&#8217;s (and since we&#8217;re a more progressive generation, everything really does start with &#8220;R&#8221;) were <a href="http://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/non-hw/muncpl/reduce.htm" target="_blank">Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle</a>.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">The Air Force isn&#8217;t at the forefront of green thinking, but they are starting to get into the act.  In January, <a href="http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123082355" target="_blank">Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee won a recycling award</a>, and a press release yesterday shows that <a href="http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123117401" target="_blank">they&#8217;re seeing the value of &#8220;Reuse&#8221;</a>.  Now if only they would learn to <a href="http://www.pogo.org/p/defense/do-060701-f22a.html" target="_blank"><em>reduce</em></a> <a href="http://pogoblog.typepad.com/pogo/2006/04/why_is_this_man.html" target="_blank">troubled</a> programs like the F-22&#8230;</p>
